Ankara – The “Cyber Hygiene SME Information Meeting,” organized by the OSTİM Defense and Aerospace Cluster (OSSA) with the support of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey (SSB), was held with the active participation of companies operating in the defense industry. The meeting, attended by Murat Çizgel, Head of the Cyber Security and Information Systems Department of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey's Defense Industry Directorate, and Mustafa Yılmaz, Director of TRTEST, addressed cyber security awareness, fundamental cyber hygiene practices, and corporate security processes in the defense industry. During the event, it was emphasized that cyber security is not merely a technical requirement for companies in the defense industry supply chain; it holds strategic importance in ensuring business continuity, protecting corporate reputation, and securing sustainable operations. Discussions with participants covered topics such as improving companies' current cyber security levels, increasing user awareness, effectively implementing technical security controls, and creating a sustainable security culture. Furthermore, the measures that institutions should take in the face of increasing cyber threats today, and approaches to strengthening security in the defense industry ecosystem were evaluated. It was stated that the meeting organized by OSSA contributed to increasing the knowledge and awareness levels of SMEs operating in the defense industry regarding cybersecurity, and that it also constituted an important platform for the dissemination of security standards needed by the sector. The event emphasized that cybersecurity plays a critical role in achieving a strong and sustainable structure for the defense industry, and conveyed the message that improving the security culture of all stakeholders in the supply chain will increase the competitiveness and resilience of the sector.
